编者按：Franklin Cardenas先生自2005年到国际金融学院任教，教授强化英语（IELTS）训练课程至今已有3年。3年来，他对教学一丝不苟，对学生付出了满腔热情，每学期评教分数均在优秀，平均达到4.81分。他热爱中国，热爱我们这个集体，给我们带来的不仅是教学上的成果，还有来自异国他乡的风情，他的拉丁舞姿将和他的教学一样为每位师生留下美好的记忆。Franklin先生因为家庭和身体的原因，这学期结束后他将回到祖国——哥伦比亚工作，从他包含深情的话语和眼神中，我们可以看到他的依依不舍，看到他对中国及我学院的深厚感情。下面转载他在2008年4月15日给学院的一封信，以表达我们对他的由衷感谢。祝愿Franklin先生今后工作顺利！生活开心！身体健康！欢迎有机会再到中国！

I wish to thank BNU for having given me a great opportunity to further my career in China which was exactly the challenging experience I had been looking for. Since it will be soon time for me to go back to my country, I have decided not to renew my contract for next year.

Throughout my three-year experience at BNU, I believe that I have successfully performed the duties you have entrusted me with, which include helping the students perform at a higher level of competency in Reading, Writing and Speaking. I have demonstrated an ability to inspire students by creating a friendly classroom atmosphere through clear discussions and by providing well-organized lectures conducive to language learning. I have also provided careful and insightful assessment of the students’ oral and written performance by using the IELTS criteria. Finally, I have participated actively in the regular teaching meetings by sharing teaching experiences with both Chinese and foreign teachers.

During the first two years of my work here, I enthusiastically engaged in extra-curricular activities, especially when, together with Chinese and foreign teachers, I co-produced an English Evening full of songs, dances, plays and speeches aimed to encourage students to use English; the rehearsals, which took place twice a week for two months, and the leading role taken in the organization allowed me to have a closer contact with both students and teachers. I am very proud to know that the English Evening has become a traditional annual event at BNU, this year, for instance, when first year’s students took the initiative to organize it themselves, I collaborated on the event by teaching Latin dance to a group of wonderful Chinese teachers with whom I had the pleasure to perform on stage.

I have also made myself available for students outside the teaching hours by creating an English Speaker’s Corner which I have run once a week for these three consecutive years: (2005 and 2006, Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, 2007: Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm).. My objective has been to give learners an opportunity to speak English in a spontaneous way, which has proved vital in the improvement of their speaking skills.

The outings organized by IFC were extremely helpful and enjoyable, I am quite glad I did not miss any as they were excellent opportunities to get to interact with the leaders, Chinese and foreign teachers. I will be forever grateful for the friendship and support I have received and will always look back with fond memories. If it is not too early, I would like to already convey my regards and best wishes for the oncoming academic year, which I am sure it will be most successful.

The respect and hard work of the students were an invaluable treasure in the achievement of my teaching objectives. Never before had I taught in such a motivating environment, I am going to miss everybody very much!

    我能够在中国进一步发展事业，是北师大珠海分校给予我的机会，我深表感谢！而这恰恰是一次我所期待的、具有挑战性的机会。很快我就将回国了，我已经做出决定不再续签明年的合同。

    在北师大珠海分校任教的三年，我成功地完成了您所交给我的任务，包括帮助学生提高他们的读、写、说能力。通过清晰的讨论而营造友好的教室氛围、结构完善且助于语言学习的讲课，我充分展示了自己向学生传授知识的能力。同时，对于学生的口语与书面表达，我用IELTS的标准对他们进行了细致、有见解的测评。最后，我还积极地参与正常的教学会议，与其他中外教师交流教学经验。

    在此工作的前两年，我热情投入于课程之外的活动中，尤值一提的是与其他中外教师共同创办的一年一度的“英语晚会”，那里充满了歌声、舞蹈、游戏与演讲，其目的在于鼓励学生运用英语进行交流。每两周举行一次的排练，作为晚会的负责人，使我能够与学生和老师们进行更亲密的接触。得知“英语晚会”在国际金融学院已经成为一个传统的年度事件，我感到十分自豪。去年，学生会十分主动地承担起了组织该活动的义务，而我呢，也对他们进行了协助——教授一组非常棒的中国老师拉丁舞，跟这些老师一起在台上舞动，我真是由衷地开心。此外，在过去的3年中，我在课堂之外还开展了每周一次的英语角活动。其中2005-2006年是在周三18：00-19：00，而2007年则是在周二18：00-19：00。我的目的是给学习者创造一个说英语的环境，而他们口语能力的提高证明这样的环境是很重要的。

    国际金融学院组织的郊游活动十分有益。我很高兴参加了所有的郊游活动，因为这是与领导、中外教师接触的最佳机会。对于我所得到的友谊和支持，我将永存感激，并且会时常回忆愉快的往事。如果不是现在尚早的话，我已经想要表达对下一个学年的问候与祝福了，我相信它会是更加成功的一个学年。

    学生的尊敬与努力是我教学目标的最无价的成果。以前我从来没有在这样一个充满激励的环境中教学，我会非常想念你们每一个人的！
