Accounting is concerned with the production and reporting
of financial information for both external and internal
purposes, in order to assist decision-making by managers,
investors and other interested members of society.
Finance is concerned with corporate decisions involving
the supply and best use of funds, considering cost
and risk as well as the resulting value of the firm.
Both disciplines specialise not only in the application
of numerical techniques, but in the interpretation
and communication of financial information.
This degree explores both the theory and
practical application of accounting and finance and
considers international aspects. It also gives you
a thorough grounding in the key business

The BA (Hons) in Business Management
is a full-time, three-year general business degree,
with the option to take an extended work placement
element at the end of the second year. You will follow
a broad management and business programme, rather
than specialise in one business area. However, after
completing the core foundation modules at Level One,
there is the opportunity to transfer to another more
specialist course if you wish.
The distinction between the Business Studies(BABS)
and the Business Management (BABM) is, first, that
the work placement is compulsory on BABS and, second,
that students on BABS have to pursue their studies
of all the main business functions into Level Two,
whereas students on BABM may choose to start specialising
in their area of interest at this stage. Also, the
modules in Quantitative Methods and Decision Making
play a more prominent part in the BABS course than
in BABM.
Business Information Technology
This course is recognised as one
of the leading business information technology degrees
in the country. It focuses on three areas: information
technology, quantitative skills for decision-making
and analysis, and the main business areas of activity.
The course has a strong academic record, excellent
links with employers and state-of-the-art facilities.
It is ideal if you wish to integrate your computing
and business skills in a stimulating academic environment,
enriched by extended work experience.
This four-year degree combines
a thorough grounding in the key business disciplines,
a choice of specialised pathways, and a twelve month
work placement. It provides a balance of academic
theory and practical application, equipping you to
handle the challenges faced by today's managers. IT
skills are integrated into the course and you can
also study a language.

The Business with Law degree is
designed to meet the growing need for managers and
professionals to gain an understanding of the links
between business activities and legal processes. The
degree is jointly taught by Kingston Business School
and the School of Law and provides a broad study of
business with a specialism in law. You can choose
to undertake an additional one-year work placement.
