
The Faculty of Economics
and Commerce, is one of 11 faculties of the University
of Melbourne was established in 1924 with teaching
for the Bachelor of Commerce degree commencing on
2 March 1925 . It has nearly 35,000 students, including
about 9,000 pursuing higher degrees and diplomas,
and is supported by 5,300 staff. Since 1925, over
15,000 students have graduated from the Faculty.


Its main campus covers
twenty hectares and is located at Parkville , two
kilometers north of Melbourne 's city centre and financial
district.

The aim of the specialization in accounting is to
provide a comprehensive courses of study in the four
key sub-disciplines of financial accounting ,management
accounting, auditing and assurance services and information
systems. on successful completion of the special in
accounting, students will have developed competencies,
professional skills and knowledge in relation to contemporary
issues and practices in accounting and related fields.

The aim of the course is to provide
students with grounding in actuarial techniques and
with the opportunity to gain exemption from some of
the exam require for a professional qualification
as an actuary.

studies in business information systems. business
analysis and management control system.

At the first and second year levels
the basic or core material of economics and econometrics
(or statistics) is taught.
At the third year level the Department offers approximately
25 subjects which explore in detail many areas of
economics and econometrics such as International Economics,
Money and Banking, Labour Economics, Time Series Analysis
and Forecasting, Environmental Economics and the Economics
of Financial Markets.

At the fist year levels the basic
accounting concepts is taught. explain key concepts
of financial analysis used in corporate finance ,
investment , international finance , financial institutions
management and related areas in the second year. Use
quantitative and statistical models of financial problems
to assist decision-marks. particularly in environments
characterized by uncertainty and In which there is
a trade off between risk and return at the finial
year.

The Bachelor of Commerce (Management)
is a three-year degree program. In your first two
years of study you will complete compulsory subjects
in management and commerce.
