De Montfort University is formed from
a range of specialist institutions, founded in the
technical and trade education of the late 19th Century.
In 1992 HM the Queen opened the Milton Keynes campus.
De Montfort University is one of the largest universities

hour to get to London (100 miles). De Montfort University

This course is aimed primarily at students who intend
to follow a career in the accounting field. It provides
a sound understanding of the core issues of financial
and management accounting as well as other business-related
subject areas.
Successful completion of the whole course gains graduates
exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants examinations (ACCA, Papers 1-9) and from
the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
(CIMA, Papers 1-11). These are the maximum professional
exemptions offered by any undergraduate degree course.
A placement year, completed between the second and
third years of the course, is also an option for Accounting
and Finance students.

Accounting(Joint)
This is designed to develop the understanding of
accounting information rather than develop technical
expertise. Accounting plays a fundamental role within
business. Being able to competently discuss finance
and accounting concepts and practice is often considered
vital in many business contexts.
A joint honours degree course is a combination of
two different subjects - students study 50% of one
subject and 50% of another. Accounting can currently

This pathway has been designed for students who wish
to gain an appreciation of accountancy within a wider
context. Modules cover topics such as the social and
environmental aspects of accountancy and company performance
evaluation, subjects intended to complement studies
in the subject that forms the other half of the joint

and offers students the opportunity to follow a broad
business pathway or focus on a specialist area such

In the final year, students study core modules in
